Kellogg is objecting to a the Maya Archeology Initiative's application to trademark its logo, which features a toucan, reports the
Detroit Free Press.
Kellogg says the
toucan looks too much like the Toucan Sam character used for its Froot Loops brand.
In a response written to Kellogg, the Maya Archeology Initiative said its own logo uses a realistic toucan,
while Kellogg's Toucan Sam is a cartoon character with colors that represent Froot Loops' food coloring.
The Initiative promotes education opportunities for Maya children, preserving the
rainforest and archeological work.
