Kellogg 'Teams' Up for 2012 Olympics

  • October 12, 2011

For its marketing as a sponsor of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team for the 2012 games in London, Kellogg Company is working with seven Team USA athletes.

The athletes, collectively dubbed “Team Kellogg’s,” are Juan Agudelo (soccer), Michael Landers (table tennis), Dwight Phillips (track and field), Summer Sanders (swimming), Rebecca Soni (swimming), Casey Tibbs (Paralympic track and field) and Kerri Walsh (beach volleyball).

The 2012 marketing campaign will be the most extensive in Kellogg’s decades-long relationship with the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC). Team Kellogg athletes will be featured in television, print and online advertising, as well as on packaging and point-of-purchase displays for a variety of Kellogg’s products.

The athletes will remind their fans that breakfast is crucial to starting the day off right and getting the nutritional fuel they need to achieve goals, and will also reinforce the value of good nutritional habits and offer tips and healthy daily practices, according to Kellogg.

In addition, Kellogg and USOC nutritionists will partner on projects such as a series of educational nutrition videos featuring U.S. Olympic athletes and experts, to be featured on Kellogg and USOC online channels.

Kellogg has committed to providing financial support to helping U.S. athletes train, and its breakfast cereals, foods and snacks will be served at the U.S. Olympic Training Centers and other team venues, as well as on-site in London.
