Pepsi Launches Fully Digital, Loyalty-tied, Cash-back Promo

  • November 1, 2011

Pepsi is using national paperless grocery savings service SavingStar to give shoppers who spend $15 on Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Max products during November (over any number of shopping trips) $5 back.

According to SavingStar, this marks the first time that any brand has offered fully digital savings to shoppers who purchase products and reach a spending threshold over multiple shopping trips and at multiple retailers.

Shoppers can access and activate the offer on the Facebook pages of the two soda brands, registering their grocery and drugstore loyalty cards. (SavingStar's network includes more than 100 major retailers across the U.S.) Shoppers use their loyalty cards when they purchase the soda brands, and can track their progress toward the $15 requirement on the Facebook tab where they signed up. When the $15 is reached, SavingStar enables shoppers to get their $5 through a direct deposit to any bank, PayPal account or Amazon gift card, or donate the money to the nonprofit American Forests.

Since launching in April, SavingStar has signed up nearly 1 millon users who activate grocery offers on the company's site or through its iPhone or Android apps, according to the company.
