285 Madison Avenue, the headquarters of WPP's Y&R unit, which as been closed since Dec. 14 when a Y&R executive was killed in a tragic elevator accident, will partially reopen for business on Jan. 3, 2012, but the lower floors will not be operating due to an ongoing investigation by New York City's Department of Buildings, requiring Y&R to relocate temporarily to an alternative space at 125 Park Avenue.

"Over the holiday break, we will completely transplant our agency operations there," Y&R Group said in a statement released this afternoon. "Y&R has been operating fully since last week’s accident and will be up and running again fully in the new temporary space."

Other companies in the group, including Wunderman, are located on floors accessible by elevators that were not affected by the investigation.
