Clear Channel Media Registers 5% Uptick

Radio-Classic-

Clear Channel Media Holdings, the parent company of Clear Channel Entertainment and Media (previously Clear Channel Radio) and Clear Channel Outdoor, saw modest growth in the fourth quarter, with total revenues increasing 1% to $1.65 billion.

The increase was due to growth at the radio and international outdoor advertising operations. Total revenues at CCEM edged up 2% to $790.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2011, due mostly to the acquisition of Westwood One’s metro traffic division in April of last year, which added $107 million in revenues this year.

The International Outdoor division saw revenues increase 6% to $456.8 million; excluding the effect of currency fluctuations, international revenues were up 5%.

The growth at radio and international outdoor helped offset weaker results from the Americas Outdoor division, where total revenues slipped 1% to $359.2 million. According to the company, revenues from bulletin displays (primarily digital) and airports grew during the fourth quarter of 2011, offset by declines in poster and mall displays.

For the full year, total revenues for Clear Channel Media Holdings increased 5% to $6.16 billion. CCME (radio) revenues increased 4% to $2.99 billion, while Americas Outdoor also grew 4% from $1.29 billion to $1.34 billion, and International Outdoor jumped 11% from $1.5 billion to $1.67 billion.
