Euan Jarvie, COO MediaCom U.S., is shifting to a similar role for the agency’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region, the firm said.

As COO of the EMEA region, Jarvie will work with MediaCom’s local market teams, making sure they have the resources and specialist skills they need to deliver on client objectives, the firm said.

Jarvie joined MediaCom in 1997 to establish the UK’s Edinburgh office. The agency credits him with leading the effort that turned the unit into the largest media agency operating in Scotland. Later, he led the shop‘s Irish unit, helping to strengthen that operation.

In 2009, Jarvie was named chief client officer, MediaCom U.S. and was then promoted to COO in 2010. He led the business development efforts that brought Travelers and the consolidated Revlon global account to the agency.

He also led the effort to expand the agency’s offering, including the development of a business science unit, a discipline that implements econometric modeling to help allocate budgets to specific communications channels.

Despite his achievements, the U.S. agency struggled during much of Jarvie‘s tenure here, losing key accounts such as luxury goods marketer LVMH and pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline. In early 2011, the agency made a North American CEO switch replacing Doug Checkeris with agency vet Harvey Goldhersz.

More recently, there has been better news on the new business front. In addition to Travelers and Revlon, the agency picked up the $400 million U.S. Bayer account in December. In January of this year, MPG executive Shasha Savic was named MediaCom’s U.S. CEO.
