WPP’s MEC has been selected to handle media chores for LegalZoom, the online legal services provider, the client has confirmed. The incumbent was Interpublic Group’s
Initiative.
The company spends an estimated $50 million a year on ads according to sources.
The scope of work includes media planning and buying and data analytics, the client
said.
“By selecting MEC, we believe our go-to-market strategy will be taking an important step forward,” stated Sheila Tan, Chief Marketing Officer of LegalZoom. “MEC
will be working with LegalZoom to provide comprehensive communication solutions to continue to effectively build our business and brand.”
The award is a welcome piece of good news for
MEC. On Monday Macy’s, the big retail chain confirmed it was shifting an estimated $500 million media assignment from MEC to Aegis Group's Carat.
Marla Kaplowitz, MEC’s CEO
in North America, commented, “We have deep experience within the digital space integrating across channels; and the skills and expertise in building BtoB and BtoC communications campaigns.
We’re excited to bring our resources and passion for the business to service LegalZoom.”
LegalZoom is headquartered in Glendale, California, with regional headquarters
in Austin, Texas.
The business will be handled through MEC’s Irvine office in California.
