Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio has added a feature for getting local updates. Starting today,
a new “Add-Ins” tool in the online radio service’s tuner module will let listeners insert short local news, weather or traffic updates into their custom stations.
Going
beyond music, the new offering captalizes on Clear Channel’s national network of more than 850 local radio stations in 150 markets. Once enabled in a user’s account settings, Add-Ins will
automatically determine a listener’s location unless someone has opted to set location manually by zip code.
The Add-In feature, announced today at SXSW, is available now online and
coming soon to iOS, Android and other platforms. iHeartRadio says it has 20 million registered users.
