During OMMA DDM at IWNY this morning, 1-8000-Flowers President Chris McCann called data the next natural resource. Some will have more than others, some will be better equipped to handle it, but everyone will be seeking it. 

It's an interesting analogy because it's actually quite accurate - minus the fact that natural resources are often thought of as scarce. Data is not scare. In fact, many in the industry feel overwhelmed by data. 

Regardless, thinking of data as a (generated) natural resource might help people handle it with a little more care.
