LinkedIn Lets Users Apply For Jobs Via Mobile

LinkedIn on Monday announced that users can now apply for jobs directly through its Android and iOS apps. That step comes a month after the online professional network let members search for jobs via mobile. The company said 30% of members who view jobs on LinkedIn come from mobile.

 

“We have heard from many of you that you want the ability to apply directly from your mobile device but that managing and editing resumes on a small screen can be challenging. With that in mind, we’re introducing the ability to apply for jobs without a resume attachment from mobile,” stated a LinkedIn blog post today.

 

During the company’s earnings conference call last week, CEO Jeff Weiner noted that a full third of LinkedIn’s traffic overall comes from mobile, and that its updated iOS and Android app updates had led a to 40% lift in engagement on the mobile home page In the second quarter.

 

Separately, LinkedIn said today that it’s extending its company pages API (application programming interface) to all developers after initially launching with a small set of partners including Hootsuite, HubSpot, Spredfast, Adobe, and Shoutlet. The move is aimed at helping more marketers publish content to their LinkedIn page, track interaction in real-time, and collect analytics via the API.

 

“We believe this will strengthen our ecosystem and evangelize important applications and uses,” stated a LinkedIn blog post. The site now hosts about three million company pages. Weiner indicated during the earnings call that LinkedIn also plans to release an API for Sponsored Updates, its news feed ad format formally launched last week.
