Mindshare Appoints Ivins Chief Data Officer

WPP agencies seem to be taking the lead in appointing Chief Data Officers to their executive suites.

Last month Ogilvy & Mather brought on Acxiom alum Todd Cullen to fill the post, a new one at O&M. Now, sister agency Mindshare has also created a CDO role and has hired Bob Ivins to fill it.

Ivins reports to Colin Kinsella, himself relatively new to the firm, having joined as North America CEO in July.

Mindshare said it created the CDO position in response to growing client demand to further utilize the ever increasing amount of data that is being generated to drive brand growth.

Ivins is tasked with heading up the company’s efforts to harness and act on consumer insights in real-time, according to the agency. He will oversee technology, data and related analytic teams across the agency.

Mindshare said it is the first media agency to create a CDO position. “Knowledge is power,” stated Kinsella. “Yet remarkably few agencies have the infrastructure needed to translate rich insights into tangible action,” he added.

Prior to Mindshare Ivins was at Comcast where he was VP of Comcast Business Intelligence Group and worked on addressability and ROI analytics for the Comcast Media 360 ad sales unit. He has also held senior positions at comScore, Yahoo, Nielsen and I/PRO.
