Now with Fox’s World Series out of the way, NBC regained the top spot on Sunday night.
NBC, with its top-rated “Sunday Night Football," squeezed out a few more viewers on the
night -- averaging a Nielsen preliminary 4.6 rating/12 share among 18-49 viewers versus a 4.5/11 the previous week. NBC had 12.6 million viewers this Sunday versus 12.3 million viewers last time
around.
“Sunday Night Football” itself pulled in with a 5.7 rating/14 share among 18-49 viewers -- a tenth of a rating point higher than a week before.
CBS was the
big week-to-week winner -- benefitting from an early evening/prime-time NFL coverage, spillage from its late-afternoon football programming. CBS pulled in with a 3.3/8 among 18-49 viewers, more than
double its 1.5/4 from the week before.
CBS’ “60 Minutes” was one of the chief beneficiaries -- at 3.2/8, up from a 1.3 rating the previous week. Its later evening shows
also made gains: “The Amazing Race” was at a 2.0/5, up from a 1.8 rating at 9 p.m. “The Good Wife” climbed to a 1.6/4 from a 1.4 rating at 10 p.m., for its season high.
Fox came back down below a 2 rating level on average for the night to land at a 1.9/5. Last week its World Series and late NFL afternoon game bump gave it an average 5.1/14. Its best this week
came from “The Simpsons" -- which posted a 2.5/6, down from a 3.0 rating in its previous original shows.
ABC was about the same week to week -- a 1.6/5 versus a 1.5/4. Its best show
was “Once Upon A Time” at a 2.3/6 -- up from a 2.2 rating the previous week.
Univision rose slightly to a 1.2/3 from a 1.1/3
