Naked Co-Founder Wilkins Lands At Karmarama

Jon Wilkins, a founder of the pioneering communications planning agency Naked, has joined UK ad shop Karmarama as Executive Chairman, the agency has confirmed.

Wilkins left Naked last November saying basically that it was time to move on. In a tweet posted this week Karmarama wrote that “we’re super happy to welcome Jon Wilkins to the family as our new Executive Chairman.”

Wilkins replaces Nicola Mendelsohn who departed last year for Facebook where she was named VP for the social network’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Wilkins was one of three partners who founded Naked in London in 2000. The offering was based on the then relatively new concept of communications planning, a discipline that helps clients optimize their advertising and marketing spending with an approach that is media agnostic.

The firm expanded to New York in 2006 and in 2008 the agency was sold to Australia’s Photon Group (since renamed Enero Group) for approximately $33 million. By the time it was sold Naked had also established offices in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, Amsterdam, Oslo, Paris, and Tokyo.

Co-founder John Harlow died last year after reportedly suffering a stroke. The other founding partner, Will Collin, remains with the agency.

Karmarama was founded in 2000 by former Chiat Day creative director Dave Buonaguidi who is Chief Creative Officer at the agency. In 2003 agency veteran Ben Bilboul joined the agency, merging his consulting firm with it, and currently serves as Group CEO.
