Morales Named President, MundoFox

Ibra Morales is the new president of MundoFox.

Morales had been senior vice president of national marketing, Katz Television Group. Morales also held posts as president of the Telemundo Station Group and as senior vp of sales for Hearst-Argyle Television.

MundoFox, which launched in the fall of 2012, is a joint venture of Fox International Channels (FIC) and RCN, a Latin American TV/radio group. Morales replaces Emiliano Saccone, who held the post since the network launched.

"Since we launched MundoFox in fall 2012, we've said that building a major new U.S. Hispanic broadcast network is a marathon not a sprint,” said FIC chief executive officer Hernan Lopez. “In Ibra, we not only have an experienced television executive but an active marathoner. That's a great combination.”

MundoFox reaches 29% of all U.S. homes, MundoFox ranked 46th last week among 122 ad-supported networks in English or Spanish. Analysts say the network has been slow to grow. Its goal has yet to be reached: 70% of the country’s 14.1 million Hispanic TV households.

Recent prime-time viewership for the week of Jan. 19 shows the network is averaging 130,000 viewers — with 80,000 of those in the adults 18-49 demographic ground.
