Bloomberg Taps Bigley As Global CMO

Bloomberg L.P. named marketing veteran Deirdre Bigley as Global Chief Marketing Officer.

Bigley joined Bloomberg in 2009 as head of global marketing communications. She worked with her predecessor, Maureen McGuire, to create an international marketing department. McGuire will remain in a part-time capacity, focusing on special projects.

During her 25-year career, Bigley has focused on high tech and the financial-services industries.

Commenting on her new post, she stated: “We have a world-class team in place, and we are poised to see, seize and create new opportunities for Bloomberg’s business leaders with ideas and programs that drive difference in the marketplace.”

She reports to Bloomberg’s CEO and President Dan Doctoroff, helming worldwide marketing strategy for the company.

Before Bloomberg, Bigley worked at IBM managing a variety of advertising initiatives and serving her final years as vice president of worldwide advertising and interactive and vice president of worldwide brand. She managed global teams and was responsible for all television, events, print and digital media.

However, she launched her career at agencies such Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide in New York, and various others in Boston and Dallas. Jumping to the corporate side, she spent 13 years at IBM.

Bigley was named one of the top 50 women in advertising by AWNY.

Last week, Bloomberg reported two initiatives. First, its enterprise information management service, Bloomberg Vault, announced its File Analytics product. The cloud service lets firms locate and manage information the company calls “dark data,” defined as unstructured data difficult to identify, track and manage.

Also, InfoMoney, a big Brazilian financial news site, partnered with Bloomberg to provide global business content in Portuguese. The new digital platform infomoney.com.br will provide news, photos and videos from Bloomberg throughout the site.

Two weeks ago, Jacki Kelley was named Chief Operating Officer for Media, responsible for leading the business ops of Bloomberg’s worldwide multiplatform media.
