What's An 'Audience' Anyway?

Speaking on the “What is an audience?” panel at OMMA Audience Targeting during Advertising Week New York on Wednesday, Dstillery’s chief data scientist, Claudia Perlich, gave the best -- any maybe only concrete -- answer.

“An audience is a group of people you want to act on,” she explained.

Perlich added that the makeup of the “audience” changes based on what kind of behavior the marketer wants to push.

“What do you want more of? Tweet? Likes?” Perlich asked attendees. “To me, the conversation always starts with: ‘What’s your ultimate goal?’”
