Dentsu Taps Turn For Data Needs

Dentsu, a Tokyo-based advertising and public relations company, on Tuesday announced it has partnered with Turn, a digital tech company with both a demand-side platform (DSP) and data management platform (DMP).

Dentsu has partnered with Turn for the latter's DMP. The agency will use the Turn platform for data warehousing and analytics, per a release.

Turn opened an office in Japan over one year ago, naming Akito Sato as country manager. A Turn representative told Real-Time Daily the partnership with Dentsu is part of Turn’s push to further expand into the Japanese market.

Nearly one year ago, Dentsu launched an agency trading desk in Japan featuring tech and operations resources from Aegis’ Amnet, Cyber Communications Inc. and Nextage Dentsu, Real-Time Daily reported.

However, a Turn representative said the Dentsu-Turn partnership will have no impact on Dentsu’s trading desk business. The deal, according to the rep, is about Dentsu using Turn to help its clients leverage data more effectively, including giving them access to more granular data about their target audiences.

“The Turn platform allows us to innovate and provide custom advertising campaigns and audience intelligence to our customers, by offering a more granular access to data at scale,” stated Satoshi Saeki, marketing director integrated data solutions at Dentsu.
