Content Agency Contend Strengthens Leadership Team

Since its launch in summer 2014, Contend is off to a fast start thanks to partnerships with the Tribune Publishing Company, Bud Light, and GQ magazine, among others.

Now, the agency is expanding its talent pool by hiring three new executives: Michael Beller as VP Emerging Technologies, Matt Luem as VP Content Creator and Alfredo de Villa as VP Content Creator. These newly added positions will be based in Los Angeles and report to CEO Steven Amato.

"The content world is changing so fast, having creative individuals that can actually create the end product is a real difference maker for us, and our clients," says Amato. "Everyone at Contend's key priorities are to use their expertise to innovate and disrupt the traditional advertising, media and entertainment industry. "

Beller comes to Contend from Source Interlink Media (now TEN: The Enthusiast Network) where he served as Vice President of Brand Marketing and Development. “As the world of content and technology collide, Michael’s experience, passion and expertise in mobile, virtual reality and innovation will be a game changer for Contend and our clients,” says Amato.

Luem joins Contend after a long career as a commercial director working with numerous Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations including Nike, AB InBev, Shell Oil and UCLA.

De Villa’s background includes work as a film, TV and commercial director. He has produced branded content and award-winning commercial work for global brands such as Walmart, McDonald’s, Harley-Davidson, Chicago Tribune, AT&T, Verizon, and State Farm, among several others, and has directed television work for NBC-Comcast, Discovery Channel and PBS.

“Both Alfredo and Matt possess that boundless energy, creative spark and world-class talent that’s needed to engage today’s audiences. The content world is changing so fast, having creative individuals that can actually create the end product is a real difference maker for us, and our clients," says Amato.
