This is the coolest time to be an email marketer because all of the things that make it hard make the job interesting, Donald Parsons, director of outbound marketing Amazon said in a keynote at EIS today. 

While the technology has changed, the idea of talking to customers has not, there is just a treasure trove of ways to communicate with customers. All of this new stuff is making the invisible, visible. 

So how do you become an excellent email marketer? You have to be a data scientist. You have to know how to read your data. You have to listen to social media so that you can find the voice of your customer. You have to be an attribution master. You have to be a content author.
