Dentsu Aegis Network Agrees To Buy eCommera

In a bid to strengthen the company’s capabilities in the brand commerce space, Dentsu Aegis Network has reached an agreement to acquire UK eCommerce specialist eCommera. Terms were not disclosed, but Dentsu said the acquired firm would be aligned with its digital marketing agency network Isobar.

The company, with a staff of 275, will continue to be led by CEO Mark Fagan. The firm reported revenues for its most recent fiscal year of approximately $28 million.

The London-based shop was founded in 2007 and the firm now provides e-commerce and related services for more than 150 sites in 30 markets worldwide with development centers in Bulgaria and India.

The company’s client roster is primarily made up of undisclosed international retailers and consumer-goods manufacturers.

Dentsu cited a Forrester forecast that global business-to-consumer e-commerce sales will reach $2.5 trillion by 2018, up from $1.3 trillion in 2015.

While ecommerce is growing at a rapid pace, marketers increasingly are linking their brick-and-mortar and digital commerce assets. At the same time, a growing array of devices is expanding the variety of brand touch points with consumers.

“The challenge facing the marketing industry is how to maximize consumer engagement through a connected brand commerce experience,” the holding company stated. “The acquisition of eCommera is intended to address this challenge.”
