Stanza, a company that helps organizations connect with their audience’s calendars with “add-to-calendar” buttons, released data today from partnerships with the Denver Broncos and
the Carolina Panthers.
It gives insights into how their fans use mobile phones to keep track of their favorite football teams.
After a fan syncs
their calendar, event organizers can push additional updates to their phones, updating scores and events.
About 62.5% of Stanza users access the service through mobile devices. Surprisingly,
only 8% of Stanza’s users are on tablets, while desktop makes up the remainder at about 29%.
Ben Hunt, director of digital media at the Denver Broncos, stated the game schedule and
calendar of events were two of the most demanded pieces of content.
Based on Stanza’s findings, the Denver Broncos have a following in Arizona that uses Stanza’s calendar service more than Cardinals fans do. The
Broncos are also the second-most-popular NFL team in California among Stanza users.
According to the data, users are more likely to sync their calendars in the middle of the week on Tuesdays
and Wednesdays. Most syncs happen on days when there are no games. This, a report speculates, shows that it is during down times that fans work on their fantasy leagues and teams and look for
ways to engage with their teams between games.
Stanza, formerly known as SpotOn.it, raised $4.3 million in a funding round earlier this year. The company counts more than 300 sports teams
among its customers, as well as political campaigns, PTA groups and fitness studios.
