BBC Trust Warns Online Drive Could Alienate Some Viewers

Older, poorer and rural viewers could all be excluded by the BBC’s plans for the future, according to warnings published by the BBC Trust. A consultation of more than 10,000 people revealed that many older licence-fee payers said they feared being forgotten. The technology-driven proposals, unveiled amid great fanfare in September, also risk alienating people in rural areas and the less well-off, according to some of the respondents.
