While Canal Street agencies wage a silly, non-productive Post-It-Note war in New York, one agency in Thailand is actually doing something of interest. BBDO Bangkok, in partnership with Thai Health Promotion Foundation, has developed a plate aimed at putting a dent in Thailand's obesity problem.
The agency has created AbsorbPlate, a paper plate which features 500 perforations designed to catch and hold part of the grease and oils in the meal. OK yeah, it's not really an invention. Paper and cardboard plates have been adsorbing crap out of meals since, well, paper and cardboard plates were invented. Still, that's never before stopped an agency from re-inventing the wheel to garner a little bit of free publicity.
The agency claims the plate will capture 7ml of oils which is about one and a half teaspoons.
Oh, and if far more important news, RIP Bill Backer.

I wonder what slogan Bill Backer would have come up with to describe this plate?
