In Other Clickbait News, People Pissed That Ghostbusters Tie-In Ads Feature Men!

The Internet used to be a great place. Facebook used to be a great place. You could sit down (because back in the day people used computers, not phones), log on and "surf the web" for interesting, informative and yes, stupid things. Now, it seems, the Internet and Facebook are filled with people bitching about every conceivable thing.

The latest bitchfest --- which follows the bitchfest about the new Ghostbusters featuring all women -- centers on the fact that many Ghostbusters tie-in ads feature only men. Oh the horror! As if anyone would actually care if a slew of ads featuring all women promoted a movie featuring all men.

People have way too much time on their hands. People, it's a movie! Relax. But no. Apparently, people are pissed that the likes of Progressive, Papa John's and the NBA are using all men in their Ghostbuster's tie-in ads.

But as with all things, there are many sides to every story and this Fast Co-Create article by Dan Solomon presents one such side: “All of this is strange, given that the film stars four women. Given the makeup of the league, it might have been a challenge for the NBA to find an appropriate lady to put in their promo (although, boom, Riley Curry, you're welcome), but there are no shortage of appropriate women in the pizza-slinging business who could have joined Papa John in a proton pack (he likes to hang out with Peyton Manning, J.J. Watt, and Joe Montana, so maybe a female athlete?). Progressive, meanwhile, has had a woman as its spokesperson for eight years of an extremely successful campaign—it's downright weird that it didn't occur to them to just put Flo in a jumpsuit and build the ad around her."

Whatever.

Lose-lose on this. If they'd made it all women, people would've complained about THAT. When they pivot the other way, they get attacked anyway. No good way out (though -- and here's a daring thought -- maybe they could have men AND women?).

Ah well. All of this would be irrelevent, of course, if the two trailers for the movie didn't make it look like a 4-alarm dumpster fire. The biggest problem for this flick is that it looks absolutely wretched.
