Google To Kick Off GOODFest Music Festival This Week

Google kicks off its music festival Tuesday, with the first of five shows in five cities taking place live. The event will also stream live on YouTube and Facebook Live.

Presented by GOOD, a global media brand and social impact company, and Pixel, the phone by Google, GOODFest will take place in New York City, New Orleans, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Google will also stream the concerts live.

The first in a series of five concerts starts off at the BAM Café in New York City with Glass Animals. The cause is a Generosity-themed show on #GivingTuesday. Google says 100% of ticket sales from its NYC show will go to benefit DonorsChoose.org.

The performance features music by Preservation Hall Jazz Band with guest vocalist Shilpa Ray and others. Madame Gandhi will serve as the emcee.

The Dec. 9 show in New Orleans will focus on Humanity with Gogol Bordello, along with Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The evening will create "a one-off orchestration at The Music Box Village." All the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Equality Justice Initiative which is committed to racial and economic justice.
