News Item: Under siege from Democrats and fellow Republicans about Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ false confirmation-hearing testimony, President Donald J. Trump took to Twitter over the weekend to change the subject, accusing his predecessor of illegally tapping his phones.

“Donald J. Trump‏ @realDonaldTrump   Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”

Trump’s intelligence source was a conservative talk radio host.
