Squatty Potty Thinks Kathy Griffin is full of s**t. The maker of the bathroom foot prop thing that claims to make it easier to have a bowl movement, said late yesterday that it was pulling an ad it
made with the potty-mouthed comic.
The decision came after Griffin posted a video in which she held what appeared to be a bloodied and severed head that bore the likeness of Donald
Trump. Like many of the news stories that Trump decries as fake, so was the head.
Still many people were outraged and took to social media, some urging the Secret Service to look into
the matter. Griffin latter posted another video in which she said she went too far.
The Secret Service posted a tweet that said, in part, “On it!”
News reports,
however, quoted experts as saying that while Griffin’s stunt (like her) was crude, tasteless and grotesque, she probably didn’t break the law. She didn’t speak or write anything
suggesting any kind of violence should be taken against the president and urged no one else to do so.
Here’s part of the statement issued by SP CEO Bobby Edwards after the marketer
decided to axe Griffin: “We were shocked and disappointed to learn about the image Ms. Griffin shared today, it was deeply inappropriate and runs contrary to the core values our company stands
for. In response, Squatty Potty has suspended its ad campaign featuring Ms. Griffin. We have acted swiftly and decisively to demonstrate our commitment to a culture of decency, civility, and
tolerance.”
Well, if that’s the case, why the hell did you hire Kathy Griffin in the first place?
Oh, and this just in.
OK, not just, but after this item
initially posted this morning, CNN had the good sense to can Griffin as cohost of its New Year's Eve special. CNN star Anderson Cooper, who has co-hosted the special in the past with Griffin, tweeted
that her Trump stunt was "disgusting" and "completely inappropriate."
