Alphabet has granted Sundar Pichai a seat at the table.
The CEO of Google since 2015 becomes the thirteenth board member. Pichai has been with the company since 2004.
“Sundar has been doing a great job as
Google’s CEO, driving strong growth, partnerships, and tremendous product innovation. I really enjoy working with him and I’m excited that he is joining the Alphabet board,” stated
Larry Page, CEO of Alphabet.
The appointment gives Google two votes on the board. Diane Greene, head of Google’s cloud division, also holds a seat. She joined the
board prior to becoming a Google employee.
