LinkedIn Launches Native Video Feature

Aiming to entice its professional user base to engage with it as more of a social network, LinkedIn has launched a native video capability that will enable users to record and upload video directly to its platform.

LinkedIn said it began testing the capability last month and that users can now use its Android and iOS apps to upload videos, but with no live streaming support available at launch.

The maximum length for a video is 10 minutes, but LinkedIn recommends videos be between 30 seconds and five minutes. The video feature will enable three-second autoplay without sound.

Users receive information on who has viewed their posts, including the top companies, job titles, and locations of post viewers, and how many views, likes, and comments their posts have received.

There was no word on how LinkedIn plans to monetize and measure its native video offering.
