Accenture Interactive Acquires MATTER

Accenture Interactive continues its agency acquisition spree with the purchase of San Francisco-based design and innovation firm, MATTER. Terms weren’t disclosed.

MATTER will become part of Fjord, Accenture’s design and innovation consultancy.

Founded in 2012, MATTER works with brands including Intel, Samsung and Sonos to incorporate digital technologies into physical environments. It is led by product and interaction designer, Max Burton, who contributed to the Nike+ concept during a stint at Nike’s Tech Lab

This acquisition is designed to add industrial/physical product design to Fjord’s core digital design offering across web, smartphone and tablets.

MATTER will retain its current branding the agency's leadership will continue in their current roles. The 30-person MATTER team will double Fjord's size in San Francisco staff-wise.

The acquisition follows recent Accenture agency purchases such as Wire Stone, The Monkeys, Kunstmaan, Karmarama, and SinnerSchrader.
