New GDPR Products Are Offered At A Rapid Pace

Reporters’ inboxes continue to be filled with announcements of new services related to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Take two that were unveiled today.

For one, Seal Software and State of Flux have formed a partnership to help clients navigate the GDPR.

Seal Software offers a contract analytics solution, whereas State of Flux specializes in consulting services.

The resulting “off-the-shelf managed services” will help firms identify suppliers with access to personal data and analyze clauses in contracts, the firms say.

State of Flux was looking for a partner that could help it support multinational clients. It chose Seal Software for its AI platform.

For another, UK vendor Salpo Technologies has debuted its GDOR Compliance Assistance Tool. This provides two levels of available support.

Level 1 helps firms to define a GDPR status against each PII (Personally Identifiable Information) field in their system, create privacy statements and link them to contact records, the firm says. This data includes email records.

Level 2 helps users determine whether they have the correct permissions from customers. It also allows consumers to view and update their preferences online, the company adds.

This can be used as a stand-alone solution, the firm continues.

Salpo CEO Paul Lawrence may be stating the obvious when he notes that with GDPR’s implementation date of May 25th, 2018 rapidly approaching,  "we believe it’s critical for companies to start taking action now and get the right system in place to manage their customers’ data.”

Meanwhile, Heidi Maher writes in Forbes that ”most organizations interpret Article 32 as a requirement to encrypt personal data, but the challenge is actually much broader, requiring a strong information governance (IG) foundation that enables organizations to identify where personal data exists and the risks associated with it.”
