Philips Lighting has added outdoor connected lights to its smart lighting portfolio.

These are the first products to be added to the Philips Hue outdoor range, according to a company announcement.

The smart lights can be installed in any outside area, such as a garden, terrace or balcony, and the lights span both the Philips Hue white and Philips Hue color ambiance ranges.

“We wanted to traverse the threshold and offer connected luminaires designed for outside areas,” stated Sridhar Kumaraswamy, business leader Home Systems & Luminaires at Philips Lighting. “The Philips Hue outdoor range enables you to make the most of your outside areas, be it creating the ideal ambiance to host a barbecue, at the weekend or beautifying your garden.”

The outdoor connected lights are compatible with the Philips Hue ecosystem and work the same way as the indoor smart lighting. The lights can be controlled via mobile app or with voice commands through a smart digital assistant. With the location awareness feature on a mobile phone, the lights can be set to automatically turn on when a person gets home.
