NBC Sports, PGA Tour Ink OTT Video Deal

NBC Sports and the PGA Tour have signed a multi-year deal to bring the tour’s streaming over-the-top video service, PGA Tour Live, to NBC’s direct-to-consumer offering, NBC Sports Gold.

PGA Tour Live, which launched in 2015, features live coverage on Thursday and Friday mornings from 28 PGA Tour events.

When it launches as part of the NBC Sports package next year, it will also include a pre-game show, featured holes and the ability to continue watching through programming windows controlled by Golf Channel (owned by NBCU) and NBC.

The OTT service is designed to complement TV coverage, and appeal to hardcore golf fanatics. NBC Sports Gold also includes subscription offerings for events like the Tour de France and Premier League soccer.

The NBC deal comes just two months after the PGA Tour and Discovery Inc. announced an agreement to launch a new streaming service outside of the U.S. That deal, which starts next year and runs through 2030, would include every PGA Tour event, as well as copious amounts of country and region-specific content, with pricing and availability depending on country.
