Yahoo Finance Partners With Crunchbase To Offer Info On Private Companies

Offering its audience information about private companies — both up-and-coming and established — for the first time, Yahoo Finance has partnered with Crunchbase.

Deepening Yahoo Finance’s regular analysis and content, Crunchbase offers a comprehensive snapshot of a company’s current financial standings, and also includes the Crunchbase Venture Partner Network, which collects the portfolio updates of over 3,5000 venture capital firms.

As part of the partnership, Yahoo Finance will integrate a subset of Cunchbase’s market data and insights about privately held organizations across its desktop and mobile web offerings.

Users will be able to easily access information about those companies, including investments and funding, leadership, M&A and industry trends.

Charles Hartel, head of product for Yahoo Finance, told Publishers Daily: “Private companies such as AirBnB and Uber are regularly in the news, and we know that investors in the public markets are interested in tracking their progress to IPO."

He continued: “This partnership enables investors who regularly come to Yahoo Finance for data and information to discover the next generation of growth companies as they get closer to listing on the public markets.”

In addition to accessing information across Yahoo Finance, visitors can click through to Crunchbase’s platform to find additional information about individual companies.

Yahoo Finance will measure searches and users' discovery of private companies across the platform.

Hartell added that this latest partnership is in line with other recent additions at Yahoo Finance, including cryptocurrency features and environmental, social and governance scores for publicly traded companies and mutual funds.
