Mcgarrybowen is appointing Mike Wente as Chief Creative Officer for swirl mcgarrybowen, the newly combined entity of San Francisco's legacy mcgarrybowen office with the recently acquired Swirl.
In his new role, Mike will lead creative teams to develop brand experiences for clients, including Intel, Clorox, Microsoft, Dole, Juniper, Conduent, CA Technologies, and eBay. He will serve as part
of the San Francisco's leadership team and report to Ned Crowley, U.S. CCO mcgarrybowen.
Previously, Wente spent more than a decade at VML where he was named co-Chief Creative Officer, North
America in 2017. During his time, the agency had significant business growth and creative success, including being ranked sixth among all agencies across North America at Cannes Lions this year.
He was also accountable for creative with the newly acquired Rockfish team in Cincinnati.
"We are fortunate to have found someone who is a digital native, but who is focused on meeting
the challenges of our clients with ideas, not channels," says John Berg, partner at Swirl and current CEO of Swirl mcgarrybowen.
Mcgarrybowen’s acquisition of Swirl last December was
designed to transform the well-known mcgarrybowen San Francisco agency from a heritage outpost to a 200-person strong fully-integrated creative and innovation hub.
Since the merger, the agency
has landed business with Dole and Conduent, the business process outsourcing spinoff from Xerox.
