Haystack TV Adds ABC News National, Local Programming

The streaming over-the-top news service Haystack TV is adding programming from ABC News.

Segments from shows like “Good Morning America,” “Nightline” and “The View” will become available on the free, ad-supported service.

In addition, news and weather from a number of ABC local stations will be added to the service, starting with Fresno, Houston, and Raleigh. Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco will follow.

Haystack is an OTT service that aggregates news sources. Its other content partners include Cheddar, Meredith Corp., Hearst, and CBS Interactive.

It is available as an app on platforms Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV, as well as smart TV sets manufactured by Vizio and others.

The deal adds a significant new source of content for Haystack, while also expanding the reach of ABC News.

While there are plenty of OTT channels that offer entertainment programming, there are not many focused just on news.

Haystack says that its feed can be customized; the company has built-in solutions for news bias bubbles within its suggestion algorithm.
