Amazon has reported an apparent data leak involving email addresses, but the extent and cause are not yet known.
The giant retailer sent an email to customers on Wednesday, just as
the holiday shopping surge was getting underway, saying, that it had “inadvertently disclosed your name and email address due to a technical error,” according to betanews.
Amazon
adds, "The issue has been fixed. This is not a result of anything you have done, and there is no need for you to change your password or take any other action."
The company had not commented
further or released additional details at deadline.
