Dell has detected a security breach that exposes names, email addresses and hashed passwords, the company announced on Wednesday.

While it is possible that data was extracted, there is no “conclusive” evidence that it was, the company says. The attackers did not target credit card information or other sensitive data.

Dell claims it has disrupted the attempt to extract Dell.com customer information. It did not specify how many customers might have been affected. 

The possible breach was discovered on November 9, when Dell noticed unauthorized activity on its network.

The firm took countermeasures and began an investigation. It also brought in law enforcement and retained a digital forensics firm to conduct an independent investigation.

Dell has a mandatory password reset in place, along with other cybersecurity measures that it says would limit the impact. These include the hashing of customers’ passwords.
