'Local Now' Upgrades User Experience, Launches 2 Video Series

Local Now, the Weather-Channel owned streaming service and app, has upgraded its user experience for customers across 25 of its U.S. markets. It now offers more in-depth analysis, sophisticated and localized content and exclusive segments.

Sasha Rionda has been tapped as Local Now’s first dedicated host and will head up the exclusive segments.

Some of the markets impacted include Atlanta, Baltimore, Orlando, New York City, San Antonio and Portland, Oregon.

In addition to the new app and streaming performance, Local Now has launched two new video series called "Body & Mind" and "Mom Life."

"Body & Mind," focused on health and wellness, features content centered on exercise, recipes and healthy living. "Mom Life" is hosted by California native Adrianna Costa as she moves through her life as an LA-based mother.

Jeremy Jones, head of product and innovation for Local Now, credits the brand’s “one-of-a kind technology stack” as the secret for success, allowing its “internal teams to deliver highly custom locally relevant content to our users.”

Separately, hyperlocal news platform Patch has partnered with TicketNetwork, an online marketplace for live event tickets, to bring the convenience of ticket buying to its audience. Patch CEO Warren St. John stated it gave users “a safe, money-back guarantee environment.”

Offering competitively priced tickets to concerts, sports and theater, Patch and TicketNetwork will reach Patch’s millions of users nationwide, providing readers with a 10% discount to events in their market.

Readers can learn about events on Patch’s newsfeed and calendar, then obtain tickets via an orange “Get Tickets” button on local homepages.
