Ramen, Glow-In-The-Dark Style

Design studio Zoo and ad agency Huge are launching what the two companies call the world's first glow-in-the-dark ramen restaurant. Located inside a shipping container, Nakamura.ke invites diners to enjoy a meal while interacting with two separate experiences. The Living Portraits interactive art installation features three 50-inch interactive portraits by artist Frank Nitty 3000 that react to the diners’ proximities to each portrait. When close enough, the portrait will create a parallax effect between the original art and the user.

The second experience leverages Apple ARKit and Google ARCore in browsers to introduce a 50-page blacklight artificial reality-enabled magazine that includes further program details, credits as well as AR pop-up renderings of each dish served during the meal.

The mobile experience is currently running in two Atlanta locations through March 2 before being shipped to Los Angeles and then Sydney, Australia later this year.
