Amazon Scores Well With Online Shoppers

To say Amazon has a monopoly on ecommerce might now be something of an understatement.

In fact, a staggering 81% of U.S. consumers now consider Amazon to be their go-to retailer, according to a new report from Adtaxi.

At least for now, a majority of consumers seem to be happy with Amazon’s dominant position in the marketplace.

Some 43% describe their Amazon experience as “excellent,” while another 43% describe the experience as “good,” per the marketing agency.

Beyond Amazon, consumers are only growing increasingly comfortable shopping online, the research suggests.

Indeed, 7% of consumers now say they shop online every day, which is up 2% year-over-year, while 25% say they shop online a few times per week -- up from 13% year-over-year.

Additionally, 66% of U.S. consumers say they spend more time online shopping than in-store shopping, while 56% say they spend more money online shopping.

The most commonly e-purchased products among online shoppers are electronics (68%), followed by clothing (66%) and household items (65%).

As for price shopping, 44% of online shoppers say they always compare prices across multiple sites, while 48% say they do so sometimes, and 8% say they never do.

As for online reviews, 55% of online shoppers say they always read customer reviews before making a purchase, while 42% say they do so sometimes.
