Booker Email Calls NYC 'Newark's Suburb'

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio joined the field of Democratic Presidential hopefuls on Thursday. Within hours, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) sent out an email blast mocking de Blasio’s bid.

“You may have heard of Newark’s suburb, New York City,” the email says, according to The New York Post. “It’s [sic] mayor, Bill de Blasio, just became the 23rd Democrat to announce their candidacy for president.”

“With such a crowded field, the DNC will have no choice but to get more aggressive in defining who qualifies for the debate stage,” Booker’s email continues.

“For an underdog campaign like ours, the debates mean everything. They give us a platform to compete on even ground with every other campaign, especially ones that are raising millions of dollars.”

The email says the Booker campaign has a goal of pulling in 15,683 donors before the first debate next month, the Post continues. Candidates must have 65,000 unique donors or have scored at least 1% in three different polls to qualify for the debate, it adds.

Meanwhile,  President Trump put out a video calling de Blasio the 'Worst mayor' in NYC history.”  It’s the latest volley in what promises to be a wacky election year.
