Ubisoft, Argo Unveil 'Explosive' Video Promoting Upcoming 'Breakpoint' Game

If you are into videogames with lots of shooting, explosions and other assorted mayhem, you will love "Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint" from game marketer Ubisoft.

The marketing blitz began today with the release of a spot featuring the rapper-songwriter-actor-entrepreneur-record executive Lil’ Wayne and directed by David Leitch, who also directed one of the best superhero movies of all time, "Deadpool 2." (Why it wasn’t nominated for Best Picture, I’ll never know. There’s just no accounting for the tastes of Academy Award members.)

The extended spot (five-plus minutes long) features a somewhat distracted Wayne (those Hollywood hyphenate-types have many demands on their time after all) being interrupted as he plays the game, much to the consternation of his remote teammates.

The live-action sequences for the spot, part of a broader campaign called “Squad Up ft. Lil Wayne,” were shot in Vancouver, Canada.

Production credit goes to Minted Content, Los Angeles. Ubisoft worked with San Francisco–based agency Argonaut on the development of the concept and overall creative direction and execution of the campaign.

TV ads promoting the game will air nationally on programs including "Thursday Night Football" and "WWE SmackDown." The title debuts worldwide Oct. 4, with a so-called “open beta” taking place later this month.
