McKinney's Joe Maglio Named Chief Judge For Obie Awards

McKinney CEO Joe Maglio will serve as Chief Judge for the 2020 OBIE Awards presented by the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA).

Maglio will be joined by six peers: Mike Byrne, founding partner/global creative officer, Anomaly; Jeff Honea, creative director, National Geographic Society; Rodrigo Jatene, Chief Creative Officer, Grey West; Carlos Moreno, Global Chief Creative Officer, Cossette Communications; Kelly Peppers, CEO, Colossal Media; Julie Ruiz, creative & design director, Viceland.

This panel of jurors, as in prior years, were invited by OAAA’s senior leadership team to participate and selected for their experience and expertise in advertising design, particularly about OOH creativity.

Maglio succeeds 2019 Chair Andy Bird, Chief Creative Officer, Publicis New York. Many of the judges are past OBIE Award winners, and several serve on other creative award juries, such as Cannes Lions.

Judging will be conducted in person over the course of one full day, during which judges review on average 1,200+ OOH executions.

The 2020 OBIE Awards is now open for submission for OOH campaigns running  within the 2019 calendar year. Entries must be received by Friday, December 13 at obieawards.org.

“OOH is an incredibly powerful medium,” stated Maglio. “A smart strategic approach combined with a great creative execution in OOH has the stopping power that other media environments can't match. Even a single billboard can move the needle for a brand when done well."
