Brand USA, United Airlines Partner

Brand USA and United Airlines are partnering to promote U.S. cities as international travel destinations.

The destination marketing organization for the United States and the airline entered into a multiyear, global sponsorship agreement. Terms were not disclosed.

The agreement makes United Airlines an official Global Airline Sponsor of Brand USA and the exclusive airline sponsor of Brand USA’s third IMAX film, “Into America’s Wild,” which premieres globally in February.

The film aims to take international viewers on a journey across the United States through the eyes of John Herrington, the first Native American astronaut, and Alaskan pilot Ariel Tweto. It features such outdoor experiences as kayaking Oregon's  coast, exploring the wilds of Alaska and walking the Appalachian Trail.

The sponsorship grew out of the two entities’ “mutual passion for sharing America’s treasures with the international travel community,” says Christopher Thompson, president and CEO of Brand USA.

“Together, we are determined to find creative solutions that impact global travel to the United States,” Thompson says in a release. “Travel decisions are increasingly influenced by entertaining content and compelling stories.”

In the last two years, United has announced 26 new international routes, including nonstop service between the United States and Prague, Czech Republic; Cape Town, South Africa;  Tahiti, French Polynesia; Naples, Italy; Porto, Portugal; and Reykjavik, Iceland.
