Verizon and Snapchat maker Snap Inc. are teaming to work together at Verizon’s 5G Labs to create new experiences, including live events through Snapchat.

Snap intends to develop new augmented reality features at the labs while Verizon will work with the company to create exclusive distribution and co-marketing initiatives, according to the announcement by Verizon.

The partnership is to include premium sponsorship placements in Snap video series.

Verizon plans to preload the Snapchat app on certain 5G phones and provide exclusive offers through programs such as Verizon Up.

“Major advances in high-bandwidth experiences are fueling the future of augmented reality,” stated Jared Grusd, chief strategy officer of Snap Inc.
