Disney+'s Mobile Downloads Now Exceed 22M

Disney+, launched four weeks ago, has now been downloaded more than 22 million times to mobile devices alone, estimates independent app-tracking company Apptopia.

That, of course, doesn't include smart TVs, desktops, or other devices.

There is no way of knowing how many of those downloads were driven by free trials, such as Verizon's offer of a year free of Disney+ with purchase of one of its unlimited wireless plans.

Apptopia estimates downloads by connecting its analytics tools to more than 250,000 apps, then running it against publicly available data sources.

In good news for competing streaming services, the tracking service also reports that downloads and streaming times for HBO Now and Amazon rime Video were unaffected by the Disney+ launch, and Netflix saw a dip in mobile traffic, but quickly rebounded.

Further, the $12.99 Disney+, Hulu and ESPN bundle has upped installs of those apps, and Roku is also seeing more engagement, according to Apptopia.

In addition, Google's annual rankings of search trends, released yesterday, shows Disney+ as the year's No. 1 most-searched topic in the U.S.
