Quickbooks Embraces 1980s Film Nostalgia In New Campaign

Quickbooks is riding the wave of nostalgia aimed at classic 1980 films by inserting its accounting platform into the lives of popular characters from this era, notably played by the same actors.

The campaign is developed by creative agency TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles and media agency Hearts & Science.

One ad shows actress Annie Potts reprising her iconic role of cranky Janine Melnitz, secretary for the iconic “Ghostbusters” team. Slimer, the green ghost from the first film franchise also makes an appearance by attacking real Quickbooks customer and small business owner Bert Baker from Hollywood Elite Security.

Another commercial in the campaign features Martin Kove who once again becomes John Kreese, the “sociopathic” owner and sensei of Cobra Kai dojo in “The Karate Kid” franchise, as he interacts with real-life business owner Stephanie Schestag from Fire Hot Yoga.

In both spots these misanthropic characters are transformed into calm, happy customers thanks to Quickbooks services.

In addition to the television spots, QuickBooks is also doing social and online activations.
