WPP Affiliate Syzygy Plans North American Expansion

WPP affiliate agency group Syzygy is expanding its North American operations and as part of the plan has appointed Phil Stelter CEO of the region. The role is new. It has an outpost in New York already, a key focus of which has been clients’ digital transformation.

The agency offers media, content, production, design and performance marketing services. WPP owns more than 50% of the 25-year-old agency which bills itself as having the “heart of an independent agency and the muscle of a global group.”  Clients include Avis Budget Group, American Express, PayPal, L’Oreal, Lufthansa, BMW, and Deloitte.

Stelter joined the agency a decade ago and most recently served as Global Chief Media Officer for the group’s London operation.

In his new role Stelter will report to Syzygy CEO Lars Lehne, who stated, “Phil is bringing his winning track record in the U.K. to concentrate on energizing our U.S. agency by infusing it with growth and profitability while delivering first-class business services and results to our clients and their brands.”

The 600-person agency also has several offices in Germany and a presence in Warsaw.
