Subaru Supports Feeding America, Delays 'Dining Out For Life' Event

Subaru of America will provide 50 million meals nationwide to people impacted by the pandemic via a new partnership with Feeding America.

The automaker’s North America headquarters is getting support from its two regional independent distributors, Subaru of New England and Subaru Distributors Corp.

Subaru’s network of 633 retailers nationwide will foster relationships with local Feeding America member food banks and will provide ongoing support in the form of food drives, donations and volunteer events.

Meanwhile, Dining Out for Life, the perennial restaurant fundraiser hosted by the automaker, typically held on the last Thursday in April in cities across North America, will now be delayed in most cities due to the lack of in-restaurant dining. Some cities including Albany, Atlanta, Boulder, Denver, Philadelphia and San Francisco will hold virtual fundraising events in April.

Funds raised through a city’s Dining Out For Life event stay in that region to provide HIV care, prevention, education, testing, counseling and other essential services to people living with or impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Consumers are encouraged to continue supporting the nearly 3,000 participating restaurants by purchasing gift certificates or ordering takeout meals when possible. Each participating community has a page on where consumers can see if the licensed organization has postponed its event date, and if so, note the new date.

More than $4.2 million was raised from a single day of dining in 60 cities coast to coast last year, the most funds raised since the event began in 1991.

Both initiatives are part of  the Subaru Loves to Help pillar, the community-focused initiative of the Subaru Love Promise

“A commitment to caring for the people in our communities is integral to our Subaru Love Promise, and our longstanding partnership with Dining Out for Life is a shining example of the importance of supporting causes that matter,” said Alan Bethke, senior vice president of marketing, Subaru of America Inc., in a release.
